Here for sale is a Turntable motor speed controller for Garrard 301,401, Lenco, L75,78, PTP and Thorens TD 124, (E50 motor only), etc. It is designed for 2 speeds – 33,3 and 45 rpm and is only suitable for 220-240 mains voltage. The device is creating very precise and clean sine-wave. The created signal then is transmitted to a Class D power amplifier to drive the motor of the turntable. The frequency is controlled by a microprocessor. The signal generator uses a 20 bit DDS core, implemented in the software to generate the reference sine-wave. Frequency resolution is 0.01Hz. Frequency range is 40.00-70.00 Hz for 33 RPM and 60.00-90.00 Hz for 45 RPM. There is a tachometer build-in so that a very fine tuning of the disk rotation is very easy to be set up and no need of external stroboscope. It must be noted, that due to the AC frequency change, the build-in stroboscope of the Garrard 401 and TD 124 is not going to work correctly. It must be powered additionally with separate 50hz source and not directly by the controller. Please be advised that the tachometer sensor have to be mounted horizontally under the platter of the turntable and this is a “do-it-yourself” task. It is very easy to be accomplished on a Lenco based turntable. A bit more tricky on Garrard decks. It can be mounted externally as well. 33/45 toggle switch installed in the back of the controller for easy switch between 33/45 mode. There are separate power supplies for both the power amplifier and for the frequency generator (both regulated and linear power supplies with a high grade toroidal transformer). The output transformer is 30va toroidal. The device is very power efficient. Basically the idler wheel of the turntable have to be set for 33 RPM. Then the controller is taking over and is controlling the RPMs for both 33 and 45 RPM. The change of the speed (33,3 and 45) is designed to be performed by a toggle switch, mounted on the back panel of the device. The item comes without input mains cable. Such can be obtained elsewhere for pennies. Output cable to connect the controller to your turntable is included in this sale as it is using specific connector. PLEASE, BE ADVISED, THIS IS A TOTALLY CUSTOM MADE UNIT. IT IS NOT COMING AS AN AUDIO BRAND. IT WAS MANUFACTURED BY ANALOG AUDIO ENTHUSIASTS TO BRING THE IDLER WHEEL BASED TURNTABLES AT EVEN HIGHER LEVELS. THIS MEANS THAT THE DEVICE IS NOT DONE IN SERIES AND IS A TOTALLY HANDCRAFTED DIY PRODUCT. The enclosure of the controller is finished with 10mm smoked black glass for the front panel and the cover and beautifully waxed solid smoked merbau wood for the side panels. Solid brass feet are installed which matches the wood and glass beautifully. The external dimensions of the controller are as follows: 37.5cm x 23cm x 14cm. It is very compact. Output cable to be connected to your deck. A set of reflective tapes to be attached on the platter to act as an interrupt point in order that the sensor to register the rotations and pass it to the tachometer.
